The relevance of ethics in IT is undoubtedly a huge concern for the users of IT and companies selling IT systems. Ethics is important because it is a guideline for the conduct of all aspects of technology.
A growing issue in today's world is hacking and phishing. The reputation of an enterprise is vital because our safety online is a huge concern to us and if an enterprise has no safety systems in place, this would prevent us from buying anything online or even trusting different websites with our personal details (mail, banking etc). This means that various services and websites we use, need to insure that they use our details safety and not in a way that would put our personal well being at stake from identity theft or even crime in the real world.
Good ethics is important because it will encourage more clients to trust your business. The most important thing for a business to be successful is a client base, and how can one expect to have a clientele if the service is unreliable. A company that practices good ethics always will have a favorable public image, and this will always help us out in the sense that we will always be able to tell which company to trust, as a reliable company with good ethics in IT will be very well known.
